SEO and 2.0

web2 Now that web 2.0 is in full affect how does this change the players in SEO? Lets compare how SEO used to be and now with the changes how SEO has evolved…

In the beginning stages of SEO link building was key. Link building is a word that makes most people cringe - especially in the SEO field. With web 2.0 in action it has opened up a lot of opportunities to link build in a variety of creative ways. Including but not limited to forums, blogs, social networks, etc. all of these new resources are a great way to get your links and information out there with out the hours upon hours it takes to link build. Don’t get me wrong old fashion link building is not completely out of the equation but with all of the other options out there it does make life easier!

Another change is the way of communication. What once was a one-way conversation is now opened up to billions of conversations where if you have something to say someone somewhere is going to post a comment back – whether you like it or not! Also you have the option to participate in multiple conversations with the same person or multiple groups of people that share the same interests as you.

Traffic sources are another area where web 2.0 has made a huge impact. Before web 2.0 main traffic sources came from Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask. Now a lot of traffic sources come from Stumble Upon, Digg and other voting sites, along with a variety of blogs and other social networks such as forums and niche communities. Did you ever think the web would come to this?

In my opinion I love the way the web has evolved! What once was a one-way street is now opened up to all sorts of traffic.
